Domestic Animal Ghosts
This project brings together seven artists who produce objects alluding to domesticity. The quest is to understand how each object functions in a theoretical or speculative space established in two proposals by Italian designer Andrea Branzi.
His first proposal, from the 1980s, Domestic Animals, thought of the object as a semiotic entity. A recent proposal understands the object as momentarily combined information extracted from various flows, rather than as a system of signs. Here, the domestic object is the element through which to interpret socio¬cultural change on a global scale.
