what is Ja3b?

Jugada a 3 bandas (Ja3b) opens the doors of contemporary art galleries to a much broader public, seeking to achieve maximum quality exhibitions by combining the efforts of galleries, curators and, of course, artists.

Ja3b aims to boost recognition of the continuous work that gallery owners, curators and artists are producing within the contemporary art sector.

Ja3b creates a framework for connecting participating galleries to a more heterogeneous viewer, improves the collaboration of galleries with freelancing curators, promotes collectorship and seeks maximum quality in the proposed exhibitions. Ja3b unites three participating parties in one sole project: galleries, curators and, of course, artists.

Ja3b proposes to increase the number of participating galleries and exhibition proposals for the next edition. It will also aim to add numerous activities to support the project purposes, such as guided tours for professionals and the general public as well as a public prize.

Ja3b will hold its 2013 edition in Barcelona as well, enabling the creation of collaborative networks nationwide.

Ja3b During this third year, Ja3b seeks to strengthen the presence and exposure of the Spanish contemporary art sector both in Europe and internationally.

Ja3b has taken place every April since 2011. It has become a regular event in the annual national contemporary art calendar. The project was initially conceived and directed by Virginia Torrente, who maintains her collaboration as an advisory board member. Since 2012, the association hablarenarte: is in charge of guaranteeing continuity of the project. Azotea (Ane Agirre and Juan Canela) is responsible for the project in Barcelona.
