It’s in the Papers
It’s in the Papers starts from two positions, universalism and cultural identification. If there are universal ‘truths’, their transmission is always defected by the fact we cannot escape our own vocabulary of cultural references. Hard ‘facts’ are always tinted with soft fiction. Truth only exists in abstraction and our fantasy is needed to let it materialize. Paper as an artistic fabric, is consciously over-represented. Although fragile, it is still a stronghold for many inscriptions of culture. Its strength is the ability to materialize and mediate ideas.
The exhibition attempts to illustrate the vulnerable moments when abstract and universal ideas get fixed into culture.
